Firstly, I would like to congratulate Halalywood Entertainment on the release of their new film. American Sharia is an amazing movie, bearing in mind that it is Halalywood's debut film it was exceptional.

American Sharia provides an insight into the 'other side' of Muslims living in the Western World, the side rarely portrayed by the mainstream media. Where in most movies Muslims are portrayed as terrorists, in this production and it seems as 'rare' as it may be in real life, the Muslims are the good guys. It can be seen throughout the movie how much real thought and meaning has been put in along with all the humor.

The movie focuses on Detective Mohammed (Omar Regan) and his partner Abdul Mutakabir (Baba Ali). Throughout the movie their differences put a rift in their partnership, with Abdul being the more traditional and mature one, and Mohammed quite frankly the opposite. Mohammed tries his best to please everyone but it's clear that he is lost from within;Abdul likes the more traditional approach and insists on implying sharia to most of the cases.

It is guaranteed that the film will make you laugh, with Omar Regan's amazing singing and Baba Ali's 'halal' sense of humor. The film relates to everyday struggles that Muslims face, for example; trying to pray at work, finding an appropriate space to pray is not as easy as it seems. The film shows that just like everybody else almost 2 billion Muslims are exactly as you may put it 'normal'. This side is not often portrayed and it is essential that it is put across in such a manner as Halalywood Entertainment have done. In the wake of recent events across the globe and in order to promote integration across communities this is vital.

Lastly, I would like to thank everyone who played a huge part in the production and release of the film. A big shout out to Penny Appeal (UK) and Halalywood Entertainment for their amazing work in putting together the Smile Relief Tour. I hope that there are more Halalywood productions to come, and like most Muslims I look forward to watching them. I wish Omar Regan and Halalywood Entertainment the very best for the future

Seasoned filmmaker Frank Ladner has done it again! This mockumentary, Max Peril truly covers the wide range Of human emotions. There is action, suspense,drama,disappointment, and even an unrequited love story all wrapped up within dialog which is witty and clever without being trite. You'll find yourself quickly identifying with the characters in this film and actively involved in their story. The story itself, is incredibly riveting, and will keep you very involved. The musical score is very carefully chosen and corresponds beautifully with the scenes it plays along with. You'll enjoy the quest of the filmmaker Riley as he tries to complete his first motion picture before his impending thirtieth birthday. See this film, you will not be disappointed. Frank Ladner has a dazzling future ahead of him in Cinema, and you'll be glad you got the chance to venture along with him. I could go on about this film, but I don't want to spoil it for anyone.. Unlike Gone Girl (which I liked a lot), this movie does not have a major plot twist in the middle. This is a Whodunit, with the finger pointed on a different character every 15 minutes or so. And instead of flashy, campy directing by David Fincher, Paquet- Brenner opts for social realism and... dark. Which is a good thing, because it keeps the focus on the plot which is thick, and moves at breakneck speed. The past and the present are interwoven seamlessly until the end, which was surprisingly moving - and for my money more satisfying than Gone Girl's. The acting is solid throughout, with special mention to Christina Hendricks and Corey Stoll as the emotional core. Hendricks is absolutely stellar. Gillian Flynn's unique voice comes through in the Voice Over narration and the dialogues which are at times funny and quite cynical. This time, the themes are growing up as a victim, confronting your past, the satanic panic of the 80's, as as with Gone Girl, the lies we tell ourselves and others. Definitely worth the price of admission. 9/10

Movie Reviews : Ex Machina (2015) Full HD Movie

Ex Machina has a very fitting sense of false intimacy. This is done visually as many of the close-ups are seen through glass. No matter how close we get to the subject on-screen, there always seems to be at least one wall of glass between us and it or them. The film also makes a very distinct contrast between it's interior and exterior shots. Outside of the facility is breathtaking landscapes. It is big, beautiful, refreshing and vibrant. Inside seems like an endless futuristic maze of glass, mirrors, plastic, chrome and dim lights. It is clean, cold and claustrophobic. A perfect setting for the subject that is explored in this tight, tense sci-fi thriller.

Ex Machina is the best science fiction film on artificial intelligence since Blade Runner. While Blade Runner is an action thriller that relies more on it's epic visuals to tell it's story, Ex Machina is a dialogue-driven psychological thriller that slowly works it's way under your skin. Thought-provoking and terrifyingly suspenseful, an induced state of paranoia may linger long after the end credits begin to roll.

The less you know going into a film like this, the better your experience will be. Alex Garland has given us a modern science-fiction masterpiece. Performances from all three leads are flawless and every other aspect of the production, from the cinematography to the soundtrack, is perfectly suited for the story. Not only is Ex Machina an amazing achievement for a directorial debut, it's Alex Garland's best written work to-date.

Movie Reviews : Jupiter Ascending (2015) Full HD Move

I'm not sure how to start this review so I'll just get right into it: This movie isn't good. It makes no sense. There is no room to get immersed in this world because there is no story to relate to. It's all just stuff happening; fluff. Beautiful, well made fluff mind you, but at its core this movie is a steaming hot mess.

Here's the plot from what I gathered: Mila Kunis is suddenly the majesty of the Earth and has to protect it from a bunch of rich douchebags that live in Jupiter's atmosphere who want to use it for harvesting grounds or something. It's a dumb plot, and every scene that tries to move the plot forward is a scene wasted. The only interesting parts of this movie are the visuals and Channing Tatum's character, but even he is given absolutely no character development. He's just a badass space agent, or something. I don't even remember.

The characters end up the same way they began - there was no journey to redemption or revelation for anyone. It was just do this, do that, stop this, go home, the end. And they try to include multiple stories, like Mila Kunis' relationship with her family (boooring); Caine (Tatum) and Stinger's (Sean Bean) history (wholly underdeveloped), the whole villain arc...

The villains in this movie are spoiled brats. Seriously. They're not scary, they're not intimidating, there was no point in the movie where I was like "oh man sh*t is about to go down"; there was just no intrigue. Their motives were all over the place. It's not worth trying to piece together every plot point they throw into the movie because it will just lead to confusion and disappointment, and eventually frustration when you realize how much potential was wasted in creating this massive universe. The lizards looked really cool. Why not have more of them? Oh we're just going to focus on the playboy brat now, okay.

I really wanted to care about this universe. It has a Star Wars vibe in parts, like the "royal" wedding scene and the space battles, but there were no good characters to experience this adventure with. You're just watching things happen with no consequences, or at least none you cared about.

The acting was fine in this movie. Channing Tatum and Sean Bean in particular gave great performances, and Eddie Redmayne as the primary antagonist was decent as well. Yeah, he's an Academy Award winner, and as much as I hate to say it I have not seen The Theory of Everything yet but I loved him in Les Mis so I was really hoping he would save this movie. Unfortunately the material he's given is absolute garbage, so in an effort to make the character stand out, Redmayne give him a weird, eerie, whisper voice that was akin to a hundred year old man trying to force words out from the back of his throat. But hey, I think it worked. The guy is completely unlikeable so might as well give him a unique trait to remember him by. Good on Mr. Redmayne because he succeeded. The only things I will remember about this movie are the cool visuals, the wasted potential, and his creepy voice.

Don't see this movie. Unless you want to see some really great CGI for a couple hours, which can be found in much better places by the way, you won't find anything worth salvaging from Jupiter Ascending. It was a nice effort but ultimately a swing and a miss.

I have been looking forward to this film because of the story line. There are so many things to like about it - the flashbacks are well done and so believable. The costumes are so fun to watch. I do not think I have seen Blake Lively act before and I was clearly entranced by her performance. She carries the film so well and is so quiet and well done. I liked the actors - Michaeil Haisman is gorgeous and believable. Harrison Ford - so happy to see him in a movie again - and he is also believable as the father of Ellis. Elen Burnstyn is delightful. This story could have been presented in such a different manner - director Lee Toland Kreiger got it, and it is beautiful story-telling. I love the last scene.

Movie Reviews : The Longest Ride (2015) HD 

Every year we get another Nicholas Sparks movie. These movies try to emphasize " true love", but are usually simplistic mushy plots, where eye candy fills the screen. Well this weekend I dive into the dark, surround sound trenches to review his latest installment, The Longest Ride. Out of annoyance, I quickly lowered my expectations at what was in store. What is in store? Read on to find out.

Most know what to expect from Sparks, a good-looking boy and girl meet up and magically start a romance. One of our characters is the perfect specimen of looks, sensitivity, and romance that drives the ideal romance, until it goes to pot for some reason eventually working out in the end. This is only partially the case, the tale of Sophia (Britt Robertson) and Luke (Scott Eastwood) act out following the typical Sparks plot. The beautiful people form another ideal couple that women idealize where chiseled abs, a handsome face are complemented by incredible feats of consideration and sincerity. Naturally I rolled my eyes at the drastically overplayed perfection, but there were many enchanted by the stereotypical romance he painted. A "nice" distraction that spices things up are the hot scenes, which you can guess involve sex. This movie sex ,starts with another shower scene filled with plenty of butts, and evolves to her riding the bull after he rides the animal of the same name. Some may find it hot, but I found it shallow, pointless, and a waste screen time.

Move Reviews:One and Two (2015) HD Full Move

So it's okay. It's fine. It's a movie that was made, but not made well. There's no passion, no story, no style, nothing. It's a movie that proves this director can put a movie together, outside of Rich Hill. Autumn Durald does a great job with the cinematography, despite there clearly being more budgetary constraints than Palo Alto, most notably the oval bokeh and the obvious digital grain, from the upped-ISO.

The movie is bearable, it's watchable, but not interesting. The dialogue, however, is laughable, and the Tree of Life internal monologues are baffling. This movie is practically a series of events, albeit beautiful to look at and competently put together, with no real satisfying conclusion nor moral.

This movie doesn't deserve the critical panning it has from RottenTomatoes, it's one of the better movies of the year, which I guess isn't saying much.

Kiernan Shipka, and everyone really, look bored and brooding. They have nothing to work with, and when they do, it's executed laughably and obnoxiously. I have no doubt Shipka has acting chops, but this doesn't prove it, she mopes around with a vaguely confused face the whole movie.

Timothee Chalamet is the best actor in the movie, and he barely has anything to show, possibly because no one has any characterization besides "quiet, distant, scared." I hope he stops being type-casted as Tom Cooper, because even when he's given the opportunity to act in these movies, it's quickly cut short (in this, his screaming and clawing are drowned out by a glaring score, muting any actual skill required to show emotion or character struggle).

Hopefully Jeff Nichols' Midnight Special shows this movie up, I'm pretty disappointed. (If at any point you think I'm blindly "hating" on this movie, the very fact that I was even looking forward to a movie that wasn't advertised or talked about shows my initial interest.)

This is one of those 'must see' films for so many reasons.

First of all, it is a testament to craftsman/woman-ship of story in film, that in the hands and vision of someone with talent like Downey, profoundness can be experienced in half an hour.

The value of being ushered into two soldier's reality, from the background of a director who has actually served is tremendous.

The irony of watching the scene in which the soldiers are being told they may not look away when shown a video of a beheading at the hands of the enemy, shines a unapologetic light on my privilege as a civilian to 'not look'. To not look, not viscerally feel, not think, not act on the knowledge that war is a product of our collective denial of our humanity, nothing less, nothing more. The soldiers redeem themselves and us, for our trespasses by resisting rage, nationalism, revenge, and thus become our heroes.

The opportunity to have our hearts and our minds confronted by art is always a privilege; for the interaction to be fruitful and leave both expanded and enhanced is a gift.

This film is a gift.

So funny!!!! I can watch this over and over. I love each of the characters. The Bigfoot costume is out of this world. I got a chance to see it at the Oaks Theater and it was pretty awesome! Every time I watch it I find something new and funny that I missed before. I can't wait till the sound track comes out. I'm really hoping they make a sequel. I don't want to spoil anything for anyone but make sure you watch all the way through the credits.... I bought DVD's for my family. I'm really hoping they make more merchandise available!
